CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF ILORIN CELEBRATES FR JOHN ODEYEMI, OTHERS AT 25TH ANNIVERSARY

The Catholic Diocese of Ilorin recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the ordination of  Reverend Father( Dr) John Segun Odeyemi at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral, Ilorin. He was ordained Aug 13th, 1994 along with six other priests  by Most Rev. Dr. Ayo Maria Atoyebi OP, emeritus bishop of Ilorin Catholic diocese in the presence of John Cardinal Onaiyekan.

He  served in various parishes in Ilorin diocese including  four years of teaching at the regional seminary in Eruku Kwara State.  Fr John diocesan youths’ chaplain for 7 years and  Director for diocesan physical developments for 9 years.

In 1999-2001,  he studied for a Masters degree at Fordham Jesuit University in New York City, USA and in 2009/2010 was on sabbatical in the diocese of Nottingham, UK where he was assigned for the year to St. Philip Neri’s Catholic Church, Mansfield.

Fr John then  proceeded in the summer of 2010 to Duquesne University, Pittsburgh for doctoral studies and graduated in May of 2016.

He is  currently an associate priest at the city center parishes of St. Mary of Mercy, Church of the Epiphany and St. Benedict the Moor.  Fr John is  also an adjunct Professor of Systematic theology at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, USA.

Four other priests, Rev Fathers, Stephen Audu, Anthony Atoyebi, Jacob Kolawole and John Lawani also marked their 25th anniversary at the event.
